WICHITA, Kan. — Kansas College of Osteopathic Medicine (KansasCOM) at Kansas Health Science Center (KHSC) in downtown Wichita recently appointed two additions to its faculty: Rajesh Jha, MD, associate professor of biomedical sciences, and David Shubert, Ph.D., institutional effectiveness, assessment and research officer.
Dr. Jha spent the past five years at Saba University School of Medicine in Saba, Caribbean Netherlands, where he served as associate professor and course director of Systems & Diseases I. Prior to that, he was the assistant professor for the Department of Clinical Pharmacology at Chitwan Medical College Teaching Hospital in Nepal. Over the years, Dr. Jha has received numerous faculty excellence awards in recognition of his dedications to his students and profession. Dr. Jha earned his Bachelor of Dental Surgery and his MD in Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics from B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Nepal.
Dr. Shubert was most recently the director of learning assessment and professor of organic chemistry at Newman University in Wichita. He also is an assessment consultant and chemical consultant and has been a mentor for the Higher Learning Commission Academy for the Assessment of Student Learning since 2008. Dr. Shubert has received numerous awards for his achievements and excellence in teaching. He obtained his Bachelor of Science from Fort Hays State University and his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Colorado.
KansasCOM is the first osteopathic medical school in the state of Kansas and will welcome its inaugural class in August. The campus recently underwent construction to transform 116,000 square feet of the iconic building at 217 E. Douglas Ave. in the heart of downtown Wichita and features clean inspirational design, innovative state-of-the-art technology and learning spaces, an osteopathic skills training center, standardized patient teaching rooms, large lecture halls, small group study rooms, a virtual anatomy lab, and much more. KHSC is part of TCS Education System, a nonprofit, integrated system that works collaboratively to advance institutional sustainability, student success, and community impact.
