Limitations and alternatives

Despite our efforts to ensure accessibility of the Website, there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations, and potential solutions. Please contact us if you observe an issue not listed below.

Known limitations for the Website:

  1. Color Contrast: Using the toggle in the website footer to turn Accessibility Mode “On” will improve the color contrast.
  2. PDF Documents: Some legacy documents that have not yet been remediated may lack accessibility tags. Continuous efforts are being made to remediate all PDF documents posted on the Website. Please report any issue with a PDF using the “Accessibility Feedback Form“.
  3. Empty Links: May display in blog teasers.
  4. YouTube Videos: Keyboard focus order may not be logical in the “More Videos” section. Keyboard focus may not return to triggering element.
  5. Embedded Google Maps: Google Maps may lack ALT tags on embedded images. Hidden ARIA elements may contain focusable elements.
  6. Web Forms: The donation/giving forms are from a 3rd party. Some images and icons do not include equivalent text:
    1. Credit card images which display which cards are accepted and being entered.
    2. Help content image demonstrating where to find a bank routing number.
    3. Buttons for sharing a user’s donation on social networks (from the thank you page)
    4. Decorative, presentational images for how Givalanche works cannot be ignored by assistive technology.
    5. Empty links may be displayed in blog teasers.
  7. Missing Form Label: Some accessibility evaluation platforms may display a missing form label error on the interactive chat widget. This is a false-positive as the “textarea” element is an auxiliary field that includes the “aria-hidden” markup and should not affect individuals with screen readers.
